Position description

Established in November 2019, Lungs Europe allows two important European organisations – European Lung Foundation (ELF) and European Respiratory Society (ERS) - to work in partnership and with all stakeholders in the respiratory field to drive policy and the regulatory environment in support of lung health at the European level. Lungs Europe is well placed to play a significant role in EU funding programmes and projects related to respiratory health and disease. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Conduct research on key policy areas and summarise findings in concise briefings.  
  • Attend and report on relevant EU parliamentary sessions, committee meetings, and conferences.  
  • Assist in the preparation of position papers, reports, presentations, and submissions to government/EU consultations.  
  • Help manage relationships with key stakeholders, including EU institutions and NGOs. 
  • Provide support for EU project applications. 
  • Provide support for the monitoring and achieving of milestones related to EU projects. 
  • Support in organising events, workshops, and meetings.  
  • Provide administrative support where necessary.  

Qualifications:  

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduate from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Political Science, International Relations, Environmental Science, Law, Public Health or related field.  
  • Strong interest in European Union policymaking and health advocacy.  
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills in English. Knowledge of another EU language is a plus.  
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, and to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with digital communication tools and social media platforms is a plus.  
  • Prior experience or coursework related to policy, advocacy, or health is highly desirable.  

Salary: this is a paid internship.  

Starting date: as soon as possible.
