Position description

In this role you would be representing The Economist Group media businesses division to a portfolio of financial services clients. It will give the successful candidate exposure to working both with media agencies and with marketers from the financial services sector. 

We are able to offer a wide range of products and solutions to clients including print, online and app advertising, Economist Films sponsorship, client branded content solutions and bespoke thought leadership. We aim to offer clients the very best solution to meet their marketing requirements.


You will own a portfolio of key client accounts made up of existing and prospect clients and agencies and will look to grow incremental revenues across the portfolio. With a key focus on developing high level relationships with key client stakeholders to understand their marketing needs, you will then work within Economist Global Media Businesses to provide creative solutions including our product portfolio.

In the role you would be expected to:

  • Generate incremental sales revenues from both existing and new key client accounts by developing creative solutions across our portfolio
  • Write creative and effective sales presentations and proposals
  • Work seamlessly with the global sales team
  • Liaise with other business units to maximize opportunities for The Economist Group
  • Maintain accurate sales database and monitoring pipelines and meeting reports
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of your advertisers, the industries they operate in, their competitors, our competition and any content marketing trends
  • Develop and maintain long term relationships with stakeholders within key client accounts
  • Build and maintain the client/agency contact database

Performance measures

  • Win new business and increase revenue from existing accounts year on year
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships internally with key stakeholders
  • Meetings with key client stakeholders in the region
  • Show a high success rate in converting creative client solutions into revenue
  • Produce and present innovative and effective sales presentations/documents
  • Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of our products and platforms to be able to create proposals


To succeed in this role you must have:

  • BA to BSC degree (or equivalent) or equivalent work experience
  • An element of formal sales training 
  • Proven advertising sales or equivalent client experience
  • A proven track record of revenue growth
  • Knowledge of EMEA market and key advertisers a plus
  • Working knowledge of agency/client media planning process
  • Experience im the marketing & communications landscape
  • Pan media knowledge a plus
  • Experience of Database management (DSM and sales force)
  • PowerPoint and document design is
  • Understanding of Document design and monitoring campaign performance
