VIA (formerly Volunteers in Asia) is a private, non-profit, non-religious organization dedicated to increasing understanding between the United States and Asia through service and education. Since 1963, our Asia Programs have provided U.S. residents with an opportunity to work and live within an Asian culture while meeting the needs of Asian host institutions.
VIA is partnering with the Pacific Links Foundation (PALS) to send a fellow to their counter-trafficking program as part of our one-year service fellowship. The successful applicant will join a cohort of 12-15 American fellows working at NGOs and innovative schools across China and SE Asia. The fellowship includes two weeks of training, one mid-year conference, one end of year conference, field-staff support, placement at PALS, housing, emergency medical insurance, and a modest living stipend. Fellows cover their airfare to/from Asia but most other expenses during the year are covered. The fellowship begins with training in Chiang Mai, Thailand on June 30, 2017 and will conclude in July of 2018.
Duties will include:

-Ability to speak/read some Vietnamese
-Possess strong writing/editing skills
-Commitment to the empowerment of women and girls
-Commitment to develop expertise with regards to the issue of human trafficking
-Data management skills: MS Office, Excel, Publisher, etc.
-Flexible and demonstrated aptitude for change and learning
-Willing and able to take initiative
-Thrive in a team setting
-Able to travel and work during weekends
-Ability to endure tough travel conditions within the region to promote PALS
