Position description

Reporting to IATA's Regional Director for Airport, Passenger, Cargo and Security (APCS), the incumbent will lead the design, development, approval and implementation of IATA's regional aviation security policies, positions and strategies. He/she will work closely with member airlines, governments and industry partners.


Serve as IATA's leading regional expert on aviation security matters, including those related to legislative and regulatory developments;
Works closely with the Regional Offices of the International Civil Aviation, Organization (ICAO), World Customs Organization (WCO), Airports Council, International (ACI) and other National and Regional government agencies and associations to represent industry views and to develop regional aviation security standards; 
Work towards increasing IATA's revenues through enhancement of training and consulting offerings;
Lead the regional industry efforts to review standards, establish road maps, and guidance material to combat cyber security threats and vulnerabilities;

Develop reports and analysis of geopolitical events that affect civil aviation.


  • Master's Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Economics or Law;
  • 10+ years of experience with a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant industry experience in the field of Security;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to speak authoritatively and persuasively before large groups;
  • Outstanding leadership and management experience in a high-pressure, multicultural and international environment;
  • Ability to perform under pressure and within variable working hours and schedules; 
  • Fluency in English; Spanish and other languages is an asset.
  • Specific aviation security experience is desirable;
  • Network of industry security contacts desirable.
