Position description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to the EU representative and the EU team
  • Monitor EU policy developments on child rights, social policy, development cooperation and humanitarian aid, and provide timely updates to the team
  • Collect, screen and summarise advocacy-relevant information in the area of public policy and children’s rights
  • Draft reports, briefings, articles and other papers on EU issues for an internal audience
  • Provide support for the organisation of meetings, seminars and other events
  • Other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor


  • Advanced degree in political sciences, social sciences, international development, human/child rights or related field
  • A good understanding of the functioning of the European Union
  • An excellent command of both written and spoken English; additional European languages are an asset
  • Good communication skills, especially written: drafting and editing
  • Fully computer literate; skilled and confident user of MS office suite
  • Intercultural sensitivity and ability to work in a diverse environment
  • Organised, flexible, ready to meet tight deadlines
  • Analytical mind, commitment to quality and can-do attitude
  • Permission to live and work in Belgium
