Position description

World Relief Seattle is the largest refugee resettlement agency in Western Washington and has been serving refugees in the Seattle area since 1979. Our organization seeks to help refugees adjust to life in the United States and to become self-sufficient and equipped to fully participate in the community. As a refugee resettlement agency, World Relief Seattle offers case management and self-sufficiency services to newly-arrived refugees. These include meeting basic needs upon arrival (food, shelter, furnishings, etc.), orientation to American culture and systems, job placement assistance including regular work readiness classes and activities, English language training, and financial literacy and budget training. The proposed AmeriCorps project will boost World Relief's performance through service member involvement in the following areas: English language training, employment and job preparation, and volunteer recruitment and support. The AmeriCorps member will enhance our ability to provide more robust and extended services to our current participants as well as extra training opportunities for our volunteers that wouldn’t otherwise occur. This position is contingent on funding.
