Spark is seeking a Managing Director to lead Spark’s growing global portfolio of emerging governments and leading civic society partners to scale our impact from 160 villages to over 12,000+ in the next five years. Spark has spent seven years developing a model for families facing poverty to engage and lead in local village planning and collective action. Each village launches a local project from a farm to a school. Today we have demand from the Government of Rwanda for a national scale initiative and garnering demand from new regions, from Madagascar to Myanmar.
The Managing Director will be responsible for defining and building out our global team, ultimately leading a team of 45+. The Managing Director will work closely with the board of directors and report directly to the Executive Director to ensure strategic plans are developed and executed against with excellence. As a member of the senior management team, the Managing Director will be responsible for team management, operational leadership and business development. The Managing Director will serve as a business partner to the Executive Director advising on direction of global programs.

1) Team Management:
a. Build and cultivate a team of senior leaders to drive Spark’s model to scale.
b. Support in Board of Directors relations.
c. Develop a network of thought partners to continue pushing your thinking and leadership.
2) Operational Leadership:
a. Facilitate strategy discussions and advice on organizational growth.
b. Ensure key deliverables are met.
c. Strengthen operational efficiency through new technologies and strategies.
3) Business Development:
a. Develop new revenue models for earned income.
b. Develop strategic partnerships with academic, government and multilateral organizations.
c. Support in donor management and cultivation.

- Experience managing teams in emerging nations.
- Managed relationships with governments and/or bilateral and multilateral aid institutions.
- Has led operational expansion.
- Desire to work in an entrepreneurial setting in systemic change initiatives and decentralized
approaches to development.
