Lutheran World Relief seeks a graduate-level intern to support the Program Quality team (Q-Team) within the International Programs Department. Well-qualified undergraduates will also be considered. This position will provide administrative and logistical support to Q-Team members, working closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team. Responsibilities will require supporting several projects simultaneously, and may include internet-based research for applying the Poverty Probability Index (PPI) in LWR projects, supporting the overhaul of an annual MEL systems review process, and administrative and logistical support for local and international events. The position will be embedded within LWR's MEL team, and will be able to shadow the MEL team. The position is at LWR's headquarters office in Baltimore, MD, though there is some flexibility for working from home periodically.

Reports to: Wendi Bevins, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager
This position will be expected to perform the following duties:
• Perform internet-based research for application of the PPI in LWR projects
• Participate in the update of an organization-wide annual review of MEL systems, particularly coordinating workplans and reviews and updating the Excel-based scoring system
• Logistical support for Q-team members' travel and events hosted in Baltimore by the Q-team
• Administrative support for MEL website updates, including some formatting and editing (dmel.lwr.org)
• Coordinate logistics for meetings, events, webinars and web-based meetings
• Taking notes for team meetings and coordinating follow up
• Other duties as assigned
In close coordination with the supervisor for this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating a detailed work plan with specific deliverables.
The team will provide technical support and coaching on MEL and other cross-cutting themes relevant to LWR's work and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on other tasks or responsibilities based on his/her interest.
• Applicants are required to be enrolled full-time in an graduate (or potentially undergraduate) program in a field relevant to international development, including but not limited to economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, international relations, political science, public administration, etc.
• Applicants do not need to have experience with a faith-based organization as it will not be relevant to this position.
• Applicants must be able to work independently and as part of a team, must have strong interpersonal skills, strong quantitative data skills, a demonstrated ability to meet deliverables and maintain close progress to a workplan and timeline in a context of competing tasks and heavy workload.
• Strong Excel skills are critical.
• Previous experience with survey development is a plus but not required.
• French and/or Spanish language skills are a plus but not required.
