The Washington Post is looking for an experienced video editor to join our political video team. The ideal candidate is eager to tell political stories in creative and engaging ways. This editor must be able to quickly source relevant video and sound on the news of the day, while also identifying, connecting and explaining the unfolding narratives from Capitol Hill, the White House and around the country. This editor comes to work ready to demystify the political process through the skillful use of video storytelling.
In addition to creating politics-focused video, this editor will assist with live video edits and breaking news production. The editor should be familiar with Washington’s movers and shakers and have a deep understanding of the important issues facing our country. This position will involve working occasional late evenings and weekends, so applicants must be available for all shifts
Washington Post video editors have at least four years’ experience in a high-pressure newsroom environment, solid news judgment, familiarity with video acquisition and strong writing skills. A proven understanding of social media and the ability to use Adobe Premiere are also required.
