Position description

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the US ARMY AVIATION AND MISSILE COMMAND, INTELLIGENCE & SECURITY DIRECTORATE, REDSTONE ARSENAL, AL 35898.

This position will serve as a matrixed security specialist for a complex and high op-tempo acquisition program management office. You will be assigned multi-disciplined security duties to include: Information Security, Industrial Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, and Operations Security. This position will be provided direction and guidance by senior security specialists in the daily management and oversight of multi-disciplined security requirements for acquisition product managers and their support staff.

THIS IS A DEVELOPMENTAL POSITION, HIRING AT THE GG-07 LEVEL ONLY, WITH A FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL (FPL) OF GG-11.
NOTE: The area of consideration will exclude Current Department of Army employees at the full performance level of this series: GG-0080-11.

You may be promoted non-competitively to the next grade level upon meeting the following requirements: (1) Satisfactory demonstration of the ability to perform at the developmental/target grade. (2). If there is higher level work at the developmental/target grade level. (3) Recommendation for promotion by supervisor. (4) Satisfactory completion of all required training. (5) Completion of all DCIPS regulatory requirements for promotions. Consequently, promotion(s) are not guaranteed.

In this developmental position, incumbent receives tailored instruction, guidance, training, and supervision designed to equip incumbent with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful performance in the full performance level, or target position.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers, reviews, and prepares reports on a variety of narrative and/or statistical data in the areas of information security, physical security, industrial security and personnel security.
  • Works with Security Officer in performing surveys and inspections.
  • Assists Security Officer in developing, implementing, and monitoring the various security programs.
  • Establishes routine procedures and initiates actions to resolve security related errors.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET Security Clearance based on a single scope background investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Travel will be required (CONUS/OCONUS) less than 25% of the time.
  • A two year trial period is required unless previously completed in a DCIPS position.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of progressively responsible intelligence related security experience equivalent to the GG/GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes, performing administrative security duties such as gathering and reviewing a variety of narrative and/or statistical data to prepare reports and conduct analysis in support of security programs.

NOTE: Creditable specialized experience may include previous military intelligence experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower grade in the series.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a closely related field of study related the position being filled

Non-closely related Bachelor's Degree with Graduation from MIOBC or MIOAC **Military Intelligence officer Basic
