Victim Support Europe (VSE) is the leading Europe-wide umbrella organisation for victims of crime. It is a dynamic organisation, going through an exciting period of expansion and development. It currently consists of 52 organisations from 29 countries including 22 Member States of the European Union, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland and the USA.
VSE works at the national, European and global scale to advocate for improvements in the rights and services available to victims of all crime. Our activities are wide ranging including capacity building for national organisations, support to governments to improve laws and policies, projects and advocacy with European and international institutions including the European Commission, European Parliament, UN and World Bank, and referral of victims to support organisations.
We are a busy and highly sought after office, currently seeking a full time Deputy Director. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, with strong leadership skills able to lead VSE’s current and future activities.
Having a proactive and creative approach to work, they must have excellent communications skills, the ability to manage diverse and changing work priorities and lead from the front. This is a critical and high profile position requiring a highly committed and trustworthy person, ideally with a strong background in the victims’ field.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, and with responsibility to act on his behalf in his absence, the Deputy will lead on the delivery of VSE operational objectives and support the Executive Director in the development and implementation of VSE’s strategic plans and policies. They will provide leadership and direction to VSE’s staff and will ensure good governance of the organisation through close collaboration with the Executive Board and Management Team.
The post will be based in our head office in Brussels with some travel largely in Europe being required.
Developing, managing and implementing activities under Victim Support Europe’s work programme, projects and strategic objectives
Sustaining and further developing relationships with stakeholders and partners
Assist the Executive Director with strategic planning and coordination of the organization's programs, projects, and policy positions
Organisational, financial and staff management
The position of Deputy Director is full time (38 hours/week).
Desired starting date of assignment: as soon as possible for the selected candidate.
