Position description

The Communications Manager is a visible position within DIGITALEUROPE. You will play a significant role in defining the association’s narrative, enhancing our reputation and bringing our communications activities and standards to the next level.

While you will reporting directly to the Communications and Political Outreach Director, you will be mainly responsible for the following areas:

  • Online communications
    • Bi-monthly newsletter: acting as the editor-in-chief of our most visible communication channel, gathering content from the policy teams and ensuring content and delivery quality;
    • Social media: using your creativity to design, manage and implement a new social media strategy, and to animate online engagement campaigns;
    • Website management: ensuring that the website is up-to-date with press releases and positions papers on a daily basis;
    • Assessing impact of actions.
  • Media relations
    • Managing and implementing the yearly press plan;
    • Drafting press releases together with colleagues from the various policy departments;
    • Answering media queries and liaising with relevant journalists;
    • Identifying media interview opportunities;
    • Monitoring news coverage and media clippings;
    • Assessing impact of actions.
  • Stakeholders’ engagement
    • Identifying and managing communications partnerships’ opportunities with relevant stakeholders in Brussels and across Europe;
    • Identifying and managing joint communications campaigns with external partners;
    • Identifing speaking opportunities at external events;
    • Assessing impact of actions.
  • Other
    • Graphic design: knowledge and experience of graphic design is a plus;
    • Audiovisual: knowledge and experience of video or/and photo production is a plus;
    • Marketing: knowledge and experience of marketing is a plus;
    • Supervision & management: for some of the tasks to be preformed, you may be requested to supervise the work of a trainee and/or to work directly with external service providers and contractors.

Qualifications

  • You are a sociable team player used to a fast-paced working environment, and capable to take initiative, respect tight deadlines and pay attention to details;
  • You hold a university degree in a relevant communications field and have between 5 to 8 years work experience in a communications role – i.e. media relations; public policy outreach; stakeholders engagement; online communications campaigns; social media; website management; etc.;
  • You have excellent writing skills. English native-speaker equivalent is a must; fluency in other languages is desirable;
  • You enjoy working in an international and multicultural environment, and you like to engage with people from different professional backgrounds and levels of seniority;
  • You are driven, well-organised and creative;
  • You are used to work with the press, and have a network of media contacts;
  • You are familiar with EU policies and the EU decision-making process. Interest in digital policies is a plus.
