Pursuant to 50 USC § 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the intelligence community within the Department of the Treasury.

The Deputy Office Director supports the Office Director in running a component of OIA that provides intelligence and research support to senior Treasury officials concerning threats to the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States that can be impacted by Treasury authorities and actions. OIA advances national security and protects financial integrity by informing Treasury decisions with timely, relevant, and accurate intelligence and analysis. Treasury uses this information to conceptualize, coordinate, and implement strategies within the US Government to deny illicit actors access to the international financial system, impair their fundraising abilities, and expose, isolate, and incapacitate their financial holdings; to promote international financial stability and balanced economic growth; to protect the U.S. financial sector and critical infrastructure; and to work with other foreign governments to take similar measures.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-15. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Assist the Office Director in strengthening the quality of production, promoting team building, eliminating process inefficiencies, and ensuring the professional development of the Office by training and mentoring staff to strengthen their research, writing and analytical skills.
