Position description

CRDF Global seeks a Project Manager to implement nuclear security and nonproliferation projects in support of the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR). Under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager and in consultation with Program Officers at CTR and other external stakeholders, the position will have primary responsibility for designing and implementing activities to mitigate the risk posed by insider threats at nuclear facilities and improve nuclear security culture in partner countries. The Project Manager will also work on counterproliferation programs, including enforcement of UN Security Council Resolutions focused on reducing the proliferation of nuclear weapons and missile programs. The Project Manager will plan conferences, meetings and workshops; manage the scope, schedule and budgets of assigned projects; forge new relationships with partners; and identify and secure new sources of funding. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the field of nuclear security and nonproliferation, project management expertise, and a demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional client service.

Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Cooperation Threat Reduction (ISN/CTR) and partner countries to implement nuclear security and nonproliferation projects.
  • Design and ensure the successful and timely delivery of conferences, workshops, meetings and trainings.
  • Using project management best practices, build project plans that include task plans, statements of work, project metrics, schedules, deliverables, budgets and reporting mechanisms. Manage the financial and administrative aspects of each project and prepare reports and evaluations.
  • Recruit and communicate with consultants.
  • Travel within the U.S. and internationally to participate, facilitate or follow up on events as appropriate.


  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in the field of nuclear security, safeguards and/or nonproliferation
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of project management experience and demonstrated ability to deliver projects on scope, on budget, and on schedule
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of completion
  • Prior experience designing and conducting workshops, trainings, and/or other events
  • Strong negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Willing and able to travel internationally and domestically
  • U.S. work authorization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of U.S. and UNSCR sanctions
  • Experience working with US Government clients
