Position description

The Fund for Global Human Rights (the Fund) is a leading supporter of on-the-ground human rights groups around the world. Dedicated to finding and funding the most effective human rights organizations in regions from Latin America to Africa to Southeast Asia, the Fund offers grants and facilitates technical support to front-line groups working in challenging conditions with scant resources.

Established 15 years ago, the Fund has delivered over £60 million to more than 670 frontline human rights organizations globally. Primarily supported by private foundations, the Fund is now entering a period of ambitious growth and is seeking to diversify and increase current funding. The Fund aims to maximize existing support from major foundations, cultivate new foundation donors, access opportunities offered from specific bi- and multi-lateral funders, and tap into other new potential revenue streams. The Fund’s European Office – based in London – is key to these growth plans.

The Institutional Relations Manager (Europe) will play an important role in developing and implementing the organisation’s plans in the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe and in accessing new opportunities for funding in support of the Fund’s mission.

About the Role:

The Manager of Institutional Relations plays a key role and would suit a dynamic, experienced and adaptable individual with a commitment to human rights, equality and justice and a desire to take on responsibility for managing and growing a portfolio of grants from European foundations, bi- and multi-lateral donors, and/or corporations that support the Fund’s work.

Committed to the Fund’s mission of mobilizing resources for the human rights movement, candidates should be able to identify and realize diverse funding opportunities, enjoy building and nurturing relationships, and have the analytical and writing skills to prepare a wide range of donor materials.

The successful candidate will be both part of a small and dynamic Development Team in the European Office as well as a member of the Fund’s global Institutional Relations team, which operates under a matrix structure. As such, the manager will report to and work closely with the European Office’s Director and the Fund’s Director of Institutional Relations, based in New York, in order to meet the growing organizational fundraising revenue goals. This position would be based in London.

Reports to: Director of Institutional Relations; European Office Director.
