Position description

Women for Women International is seeking a Marketing Associate to support the Marketing Department with fundraising and outreach activities, such as donor appeals, holiday giving campaigns, newsletters and sponsorship communications. This person will play a key role in executing email & other digital communications to supporters, provide basic CRM data management, and perform website updates and maintenance. This position reports to the Director of Marketing.

The successful candidate will have the technical skills for digital marketing and/or database management with the passion to learn and grow in a fast-paced international grassroots nonprofit.  Strong organizational and project management skills are key.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day execution of email fundraising and digital communication activities including strategy and timing of sends throughout each month
  • Oversee activities via email marketing tool including, but not limited to, email copy editing and trafficking approvals, email campaign set-up, testing, tagging and deployment of one-time, recurring, triggered and dynamic content-driven email campaigns, and tracking revenue in email marketing tool and database
  • Create new emails for Women for Women International campaigns by building or editing code in HTML, creating all necessary source codes and link tracking, and building or editing new creative in Photoshop
  • Responsible for optimizing emails to increase deliverability by defining, tracking and improving communication delivery metrics, such as on timeliness and accuracy of delivery and email bounce-back rates, and mobile optimization 
  • Meet regular reporting requirements for email deliverability, digital performance and donor conversion 
  • Create and maintain cross-channel editorial calendar and track all relevant dates and projects
  • Pull monthly sponsorship reports, manage data, update sponsor communications as needed
  • Track the progress and analysis of the WfWI monthly e-newsletter 
  • Assist with executing lead generation and cultivation strategies aimed at growing & maintaining email file size 
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to HTML templates and other aspects of email execution, as required 
  • Assist with creating all e-communications with the aim of improving acquisition and retention
  • Responsible for brand consistency and integrity of creative components of marketing collateral, from proofreading and editing to testing and reviewing design and development components
  • Coordinate the work of outside vendors on email fundraising and multi-channel fundraising campaigns, as well as overseeing asset gathering and distribution and reporting
  • Assist the team with the overall digital strategy and digital multi-channel – including offline – integration
  • Work with relevant department to collect compelling marketing content from the field, at events and other sources for use in e-communications
  • Maintain and update website and website donation pages
  • Ensure optimization of donor contact information and preferences
  • Help manage expenses of projects as assigned and ensure cost-saving opportunities are identified and executed upon
  • Respond to special requests from the marketing team to help support the overall strategies of the marketing department
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in communications, graphic design, marketing or business administration preferred
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, Google analytics and Photoshop
  • Experience using a Content Management system, preferably Drupal
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM and Salesforce Marketing Cloud a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to make decisions, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and willingness to work additional hours as needed
  • Sensitivity to gender and cultural issues, ability to communicate well with different cultures
  • Strong organizing skill and close attention to detail required
  • Strong proofreading/editing skills required
  • Experience with managing data including gathering information, and reporting results a plus
  • Critical thinking/problem solving skills strongly desired
