Position description

Through quantitative research, including economic modeling and macro-economic suggestions on policy reforms in the India economy, support the Financial Services Committee.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct policy research related to financial and economic trends affecting the bilateral U.S.-India relationship and apply that information for USIBC members.

  • Prepare background briefs and presentations and help plan and organize events.

  • Work on activities associated with cross-cutting initiatives relevant to the portfolio.

  • Produce updates and maintain all relevant databases and external communications. 

  • Conduct research reports and briefing documents.

  • Help grow the council by researching potential new members and following up with prospects.

  • Draft and edit advocacy letters, presentations, briefing papers, talking points, press releases, and other materials. 

  • Ensure that all member companies assigned to the portfolio derive value from council activities, including incorporating their policy views, participate in government meetings, and polling members on key issues.  

  • Manage programs and events specific to the portfolio’s advocacy agenda.  

  • Perform logistical tasks, e.g., update the database, schedule meetings and conference calls, create promotional flyers, and maintain files.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years’ related work experience; strong background in research, specifically on complex issues related to international policy; an understanding of South Asian culture, political structure, and business; strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills; experience maintaining databases; and proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Master’s degree in finance, economics, international relations, or South Asian studies preferred.
