SIPRI is seeking a Researcher, Data Scientist/GIS Specialist for our Peace and Development Programme. SIPRI’s Peace and Development Programme looks at what drives conflict and what drives long-term, positive change by analysing economic, social, political and environmental factors. We contribute to both research and dialogue in order to inform policy and practice to forge a path to peace.
The Data Scientist/GIS Specialist Researcher must have strong quantitative research skills including the ability to collect and integrate large data sets, analyse using statistical software (STATA or other) and the ability to convey results visually and through their writing. They should have a strong knowledge of issues related to the measurement of development. They must work well with others, including mentoring junior staff. All SIPRI staff are expected to have a commitment to SIPRI’s values and mission.

The contract could start as early as October. There is flexibility in start date to encourage a diverse range of candidates to apply. The appointment will be two-year term. The post is full time. The salary package will be negotiated individually.
