Position description

The New York Times newsroom is vibrant and ever-changing.  We are constantly welcoming new talent, and so we require a strong team to make sure the candidate experience is positive one and reflective of the values and culture of The New York Times.  The Talent Acquisition Coordinator will be vital in driving our core recruiting operations from the first communication with The Times to the first step in the door.

You will:

  • Coordinate interviews with prospective employees and managers, including working with senior leaders and executives to schedule as needed.  This includes communicating interview details and hosting the candidate visit.

  • Manage job postings, both internally and externally on job boards, and adhere to the requirements of our guild contract when necessary

  • Overall, working to provide the best experience to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) through Workday to ensure candidate records are complete and that the recruitment process is fairly and accurately tracked

  • Help the company maintain its commitment to a diverse and inclusive hiring process

  • Manage the post-hiring administration process for new employees, including initiating background checks and inputting I9 information

  • Effectively manage simultaneous projects and prioritize tasks


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum 1 years of HR/Recruitment experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to provide the highest level of candidate experience

  • Excellent organization and communication skills and the ability to manage a high volume of work

  • Impeccable attention to detail in a fast paced, ever changing work environment

  • A background in a client-facing role

  • Experience working within an HRIS tool is a plus (Workday is preferred)
