Position description

The New York-based intern will work directly with the Senior VP on building up HRF's foreign policy work. Specifically, the intern will help coordinate workstreams across all of HRF's foreign policy portfolios while also engaging in new research. As a part of this work, the intern will be assigned projects touching general foreign policy concerns, antisemitism and extremism, and Global Magnitsky sanctions, with an eye to assisting the Senior VP in creating cohesive advocacy strategies. 


  • Working with the Senior VP to streamline work and products across multiple issue areas;
  • Performing independent research projects at the intersection of human rights and American foreign policy;
  • Writing blog posts regarding US foreign policy issues;
  • Prepping press releases;
  • Calendaring and coordinating meetings and updating internal organizational documents; 


  • Strong organizational and communications skills;
  • Strong writing skills across a wide range of documents( memos, press releases, blog posts, research reports, etc.);
  • Ability to engage in independent research and analysis;
  • Ability to keep up with and adapt to fast-paced, fluid work; 

EDUCATION: Undergraduate through graduate considered 


START DATE:  January 16, 2019

TIME COMMITMENT:  Minimum 20 hours/week, maximum 30 hours/week. The internship will run until May 10, 2019.
