Position description

The American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) speaks for American companies committed to Europe on trade, investment and competitiveness issues. It aims to ensure a growth-orientated business and investment climate in Europe.

Responsible for the day-to-day organisation of AmCham EU committees, each comprising business professionals representing companies of American parentage committed to Europe.

The Policy Adviser acts as a focal point for all committee activities and will report to the Policy Director.

Main tasks:

  • Establish contact with EU institution officials;
  • Oversee the production and dissemination/marketing of policy papers;
  • Organise activities including meetings, conferences, seminars and visits;
  • Research and disseminate information on key EU issues for the membership; and
  • Manage all information flows.

Qualifications

  • Experience/understanding of EU transport, energy, agriculture, consumer policies would be a plus;
  • Work experience and proven interest in European affairs;
  • University degree in European affairs, finance, politics, international relations or law;
  • Advanced degree in these areas or equivalent work experience;
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy;
  • Computer literacy (particularly Word, internet and intranet systems);
  • Ideal candidate will have between 1 and 3 years of professional experience.

Languages:

Fluent English (both written and spoken); another EU language an advantage.

Candidate must be very well organised, have an eye for detail, be able to keep to deadlines, be computer literate and work well in a small, dynamic team. Candidate must be able to work well with many internal and external customers, including business executives and EU officials.

Start date: January 2019
