Position description

Global Financial Integrity (GFI), a Washington, DC-based not-for-profit research, advocacy, and advisory organization, is a global leader in advocating for transparency in the international financial system as a way to facilitate economic development and reduce illicit financial flows, money laundering, tax evasion, and corruption.  GFI seeks a research analyst to support the Transnational Crime Analyst and the Policy Advocate with research and analysis in the areas of transnational crime, illicit financial flows, trade fraud, beneficial ownership, and transparency, among other issues. Projects will primarily be focused on Latin America.

  • M.A. degree in international relations, public policy, or a related field.
  • Experience in illicit financial flows, money laundering, transnational crime, tax evasion and/or corruption.
  • Willingness to become an expert in the above-mentioned areas.
  • Experience in open-source research and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated strong writing, communication and organizational skills.
  • Goal setting, time management, and attention to detail and deadlines are paramount.
  • Experience working in Latin America is preferred.
  • Fluency—both written and oral—in Spanish and English is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Outgoing personality.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Transnational Crime Analyst and Policy Advocate on Latin America- and topic-based projects with research and analysis.
  • Providing any additional research and support to the Managing Director.
  • Some media and civil society outreach.

Salary and benefits
$50,000 – $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Benefits include paid health insurance for employee, immediate enrollment in a 403(b) retirement plan with up to 5% employer match starting in Year 3, and 10 days of vacation in Year 1 (plus most federal holidays and December 24-January 1).
