Position description

Since 1963 and in 146 countries, ACDI/VOCA has empowered people in developing and transitional nations to succeed in the global economy. Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development, and food security to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil societies. ACDI/VOCA has approximately 50 projects in 30 countries and total revenues of approximately $174 million.

We are seeking a D.C.-based International Recruiter. The International Recruiter works with technical and new business teams at ACDI/VOCA to find the best possible personnel for proposals and projects. This position is responsible for timely, full-cycle recruiting for proposals and projects, with a focus on bids for new business development.


Primary activities include but are not limited to: develop and implement recruitment strategy using database searches, advertising, social media, sourcing and networking; conducts initial screening of lead candidates through in-person and phone interviews; solicit information to update and amplify CVs and complete necessary paperwork for donors; edit CVs to show relevant skills and experience of long-term specialists proposed on bids and for projects; initiate negotiations regarding compensation in accordance with ACDI/VOCA’s policies; and fully track each recruitment effort in the recruitment database and documents all activity for assigned recruitment initiatives.

In addition, this person will participate in off-site recruitment, outreach and networking events including job fairs, and informational interviews. The International Recruiter will also support strong and consistent outreach to specialists by ACDI/VOCA by capturing contacts in the recruitment database.


Minimum Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Economics, International Relations, or other related field. Minimum of three years’ experience within International Development and/or international recruiting experience. Experience with Applicant Tracking System(s) desired. Experience with the hiring and procurement practices of USAID and other agencies is desirable. Demonstrated ability to write coherently and persuasively. Strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight timelines. Professional proficiency in Spanish language highly desired. Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
