Position description

Recruitment is taking place for the following position: Assistant Manager, Assembly Programs

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Assembly Programs, this position manages and carries out critical operations in the development and implementation of the 14 ATS Assembly Nominating Committees, 15 Interest Groups, the Grover Conference, Assembly Advisory Groups and the International Relations assembly activities.

 Primary Responsibilities include: 

 Assembly Interest Groups                                                  

Manages all daily activities of all interest groups, attends, takes minutes and coordinates all conference calls. In conjunction with Interest Group Chairs, develop agenda and materials for all conference calls and meetings, manages and plans all interest group activities onsite at the International Conference. Assigns and manages staff as needed to support interest group activities. Provides annual reports including an update of all history reports.

Assembly Nominating Committees                                                                                

Manage schedule and mass emails to all assemblies’ members in order to obtain membership suggestions regarding leadership positions available for all Nominating Committees. Manage 14 annual Assembly nominating committee conference calls (including notification), participate and take minutes on the call. Maintain lists of selected nominees from each of the 14 Assemblies for Assembly leadership positions and develop the ballots and coordinate the biosketches for Assembly leadership positions.

Grover Conference                                                                                                                

In conjunction with the Sr. Director manage all logistics for the Grover Conference.

Lung Cancer Screening and implementation guide and website                                        

Oversee program and manage all communications and inquiries received through the website and email box. Work with the American Lung Association team to ensure updates and requested changes are made Strategically identifies and implements customized solutions to support Project team.

International relations Assembly Executive Advisory Committees         

Oversee and provide project management support for Assembly Executive International Relations Advisory Committees. In conjunction with committee chairs manage all day to day activities and communications for International Relations Advisory Committees.

International Conference Activities                                                                   

Attend annual out of town conference for 7 days and Coordinate and attend all Working Group Meetings. Assist in other Assembly Unit activities.


  • Associate degree (60 college credits), BA/BS degree preferred, and two years’ experience                             
  • Working in an office setting in an administrative capacity required.                                      
  • Excellent computer skills to include competency in the following: MS Outlook, Word, 2000, Excel and working knowledge of assorted database management and database programs, such as Access.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams.
  • Some travel required (International Conference).
