The World’s Multi Media Production Assistant (Emma Bowen Fellow) will have the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the editorial and production process of one of the most highly regarded programs in the public radio system. The assistant will gain experience of working in a fast-paced newsroom environment with daily deadlines. The assistant will also gain a thorough understanding of the production process behind theworld.org and work collaboratively as one of its team members.



  • Create digital content in the CMS derived from radio stories.
  • Identify appropriate content to deliver by social media.
  • Devise appropriate messaging for social media.
  • Pitch a radio story and work with editors and producers to see it through to production.



  • Majors preferred but not limited to: Journalism, Communication, English, International Relations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of editorial judgment.
  • Experience of creating content in a CMS.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and willingness to explore new challenges.
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail.
