Position description

Serve America is transforming our nation’s capital and state capitals across the country by supporting a new generation of leaders who will put people over politics. We got started in the 2018 cycle, working to recruit, endorse, and support candidates in targeted federal, state, and local districts across the country. In 28 states, we endorsed veterans and candidates with backgrounds in public service, contributed nearly $5 million to their races, and helped to flip 21 seats in congress.

Our Mission in 2020

Serve America is supporting service-driven candidates at all levels, in all parts of the country, and with diverse backgrounds in service, national security, and foreign policy. The common tie and our number one criteria are that they must be leaders who put people before politics, listen to the people they want to represent, and lead with integrity. These are the kinds of candidates who have the best chance to win in 2020.

Our mission is simple: to protect the seats that we won in 2018, continue to change the makeup of the government at all levels, and build a strong Democratic bench for the future.

The Opportunity

As we champion a new generation of leaders and evolve the divisive world of politics, we are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and savvy political professional to join our team as Political Director. The Political Director, as the most senior member of the political team, will work across two main verticals.

  1. Manage Serve America’s politics - forging relationships and partnerships with value-aligned organizations, committees, and elected officials to elevate Serve America’s mission and reach
  2. Spearhead the endorsement process - creating a pipeline of candidates, and making endorsement recommendations and to the Executive Director and Advisory Board

The right person for this role will be a strategist and a doer. They will be responsible for managing a small team, setting and hitting aggressive goals, driving internal process, and coordinating with other departments within the organization to ensure that the political program aligns with SAP’s broader strategy for the cycle.

  • At least 5-7 years’ political experience in the democratic space, either with campaigns, PACs, labor, party committees, or other relevant organizations
  • Proven ability to work effectively with state or national party committees and partner organizations
  • Has a strong political network and relationships with democratic stakeholders and parties
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel is required for this position.

Serve America PAC provides health, dental and vision insurance to all of our employees, and all employees are eligible for these benefits from the first day of their employment. SAP will cover 90% of the monthly premium for health insurance, and 75% of the monthly premium for dental and vision. We also cover 50% of premiums for your dependents.

Additionally, we offer a flexible vacation package and reimbursements for mileage and cell phone use.
