Position description

National Security Action, a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to advancing American global leadership and opposing the reckless policies of the Trump administration, is seeking a Digital Associate able to work across our digital and communications work streams. 

The Associate will form a key part of a small team in a fast-paced start-up environment. She/he will be counted on to provide timely and comprehensive digital support, including the creation of visual and text-based social media content. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive digital skillset that includes social media management, video editing, and graphic design.

The role will require the successful candidate to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in response to tasks from the organization’s leadership, but also would benefit from a self-starter able to proactively identify key needs on her/his own initiative. 

Among the Associate’s duties will be to:

  • Design social media graphics and produce/edit social videos, including motion graphic animations.
  • Monitor social media activity across all channels, identifying opportunities for digital engagement and audience development.
  • Publish and manage daily social posts.
  • Assist the organization’s communications, political, and legislative teams on an as-needed basis.


  • A college diploma and 2+ years of digital work experience.
  • A high degree of social media literacy, with awareness of current trends and analytic tools.
  • Graphic design and video editing expertise.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects.
  • Well-honed communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Experience drafting content and adapting messaging for different platforms, both text-based and visual.
  • Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A passion for national security issues and a dedication to advocating for a progressive foreign policy agenda. 
  • Experience executing digital ad campaigns.
  • Experience with website management.
  • Active on social media, with particular emphasis on Twitter.
