Position description

SHE-CAN (Supporting Her Education Changes A Nation) is seeking a Development Manager to join our growing team in Mill Valley by working directly with the Founder and Executive Director. Primary goal is helping to’ build and foster the organization's growing donor base. 

SHE-CAN is a global organization that transforms the lives of bright young women from post-conflict countries by helping them win scholarships to US universities and pairing them with US mentor teams. We have helped 56 young women from Rwanda, Cambodia (and soon to include Liberia) win full scholarships at top US colleges. You will be part of a growing and dynamic team that will produce some of the world's next great female leaders and change agents. We are at an exciting moment of expansion. 


Support Executive Director in building donor relationships 

With the support of a full time Development Coordinator manage:

  • Portfolio of 500+ donors
  • Fundraising events including: Gala, VIP party, Kick-off Party and 5 Co-Chair in-home events
  • 3-4 Scholar welcome events

With the support of a full time Communications Coordinator manage creation of materials related to: event announcements, social media, weekly chit chat and monthly scholar blog, bi-yearly fundraising campaigns and PR efforts

With the support of a part-time Donation Processor oversee: donation processing and mentor billing

Apply for 2-3 grants/year and manage one grantor partner relationship



  • Experienced professional in donor development
  • Experienced in office management, managing support teams and providing back-up support to executives
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Resourceful, organized, excellent attention to detail, personable
  • Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced organization with a collaborative environment
  • Event management experience Is a plus
  • Only those with strong technology skills and advanced knowledge of Google Calendar, Google Docs, MS Office Suite and Mailchimp will be considered,
  • Knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop are a plus
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with donation processing, managing dashboards, reports, forms, templates, list-creation, etc. in a CRM database and direct experience with Salesforce is ideal. 
  • This is a full-time position requiring 40 hrs/week in our Mill Valley office. Evening events require attendance. Only Bay Area local candidates will be considered.
