Veterans reporter for Stars and Stripes
Stars and Stripes, an independent daily publication devoted to U.S. military news, is seeking a reporter to cover veterans issues.
Candidates should have 21st century journalism skills, and be well-versed in social media, writing on daily print deadlines, filing stories for the web and able to shoot photos/videos to engage readers across multiple platforms. Generating enterprise stories is also a key facet of the job.
A veterans reporter for Stars and Stripes should be able to break news on top-level decisions at the Department of Veterans Affairs, cover veterans policies and legislation on Capitol Hill and also dig deeper for stories that shape the private lives of veterans and their families.
Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Candidates should have strong organization and communication skills, work quickly and accurately on deadline, and juggle multiple assignments.
Preferred candidates will have two years reporting and writing experience working for a commercial newspaper or news website.
