The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an inter-governmental organisation headquartered in Abu Dhabi, mandated to promote the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy in the pursuit of sustainable development, energy access, energy security and low-carbon economic growth and prosperity. IRENA’s mission is to play a leading role in the ongoing transformation of the global energy systems as a centre of excellence for knowledge and innovation, a global voice of renewable energy, a network hub for all stakeholders and a source of advice and support for countries. At present, IRENA has 160 Members (159 States and the European Union) that acceded to its Statute, and 23 additional States in the process of accession and actively engaged.
Publications are one of IRENA’s key products. They help to highlight renewables as a low-carbon energy solution a way to fulfil Sustainable Development Goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of IRENA’s Senior Editor and in close co-ordination with other teams and colleagues, the Associate Professional – Publications will provide editorial support through a range of tasks. These broadly include editorial co-ordination, content development and file and archive management.

Applicants should be no more than 32 years of age at the time of submitting their applications.
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, International Relations/Public Affairs, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science or related disciplines. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: Strong editing and writing skills are essential, along with good time management and the ability to prioritise and handle concurrent tasks. Knowledge of common publishing, image preparation and content management software would be helpful (experience with HTML, Photoshop, InDesign and similar software preferred). Basic familiarity with renewable energy technologies and enthusiasm for the transformation of the global energy system is also desirable.
Language: Excellent command of written and spoken English is essential. Working proficiency in other languages could be an advantage.
