Department Summary:

Within MITRE’s Intelligence Center the Strategy and Policy Department has the mission to enhance our sponsors’ policy formulation, planning, and strategy execution across the national security enterprise through all-source intelligence and resource analysis that informs decision-making to address threats in an era of strategic competition. Our vision is to guide the formulation and implementation of strategy and policy that enables sponsor transformation and addresses emerging national and global challenges by unlocking the full potential of intelligence analysis to advance the missions of our sponsors. The Department is accountable and responsible for programs with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD I&S), and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

 

Job Description:

The Strategy and Policy Department seeks an Intermediate Intel Strategy and Policy Analyst. Qualified candidates will have a strong intelligence background with some demonstrated technical experience in advancing intelligence analysis, and intelligence mission planning capabilities. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively with an integrated, federated MITRE team demonstrating strong teamwork and cooperation.  The selected individual will be expected to work closely with MITRE teams and with military and Intelligence Community government experts to address their critical mission needs, document operational needs, and develop advanced solutions to address sponsor mission challenges and capability gaps.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a current CI Polygraph.
  • Due to the lengthy clearance process, candidates without an existing TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph cannot be considered for this opening.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Prior intelligence or defense related internship experience with an FFRDC or UARC
  • Understanding of relevant topics: the intelligence cycle, open-source (OSINT) research, Department of Defense operations, the organizations of the intelligence community and their roles
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Highly qualified candidates would meet several of the following preferred qualifications, however, we do not expect any individual to meet all of them:

  • Significant academic background in a field such as Intelligence Analysis, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Political Science, International Relations, or Public Policy
  • Demonstrated technical skills as applied to intelligence requirements with a strong knowledge of the intelligence community and intelligence processes.
  • Experience with data analysis languages and programs such as Python, Tableau, Rapid Miner, Excel, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate large datasets and perform calculations with modern programming languages like Python (scikit-learn, tensorflow), C++, R, or Java
  • Prior experience working with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Neo4j)
