Position description

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the UN Trust Fund Chief, the Lead, Strategic Partnerships, Advocacy and Resource Mobilization will be responsible for providing oversight to the development and management of UN Trust Fund’s strategic partnerships and relationships, and resource mobilization strategy, as well as promote the Trust Fund’s mission, results, and value through strategic communications and advocacy efforts.

The position works closely with relevant UN Women units, UN Agencies, and will coordinate and collaborate across the UN Trust Fund Management team and with all relevant UN Trust Fund team members.

Key Functions and Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the development of the UN Trust Fund’s Strategic Partnerships
    • Oversee partnerships with different UN, civil society and Government entities in order to deliver on the UN Trust Fund’s mandate.
    • Set and monitor annual partnership priorities, goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for partnerships in line with the Strategic Plan.
    • Build trust and maintain active relationships with donors, EVAW funding ecosystem including other grant-makers, UN funds, women’s funds, and more.
    • Act as a direct entry point with public and private donors; support development of new alliances or engagements, especially with the private sector
  • Develop and implement the Un Trust Fund resource mobilization strategy
    • In coordination with the Chief of the Trust Fund, develop, implement and monitor the resource mobilization strategy.
    • Provide analysis on ODA trends and interests that inform resource mobilization and engagement approaches.
    • Support donor events and donor missions in close coordination with relevant UN Women units/ Country Offices through the conceptualization, implementation, and follow up of the event.
    • Ensure management of donor intelligence and data base.
  • Support Advocacy and Communications Strategy
    • Provide support to advocacy and communications efforts of the UN Trust Fund.
    • Ensure the production and dissemination of high-quality advocacy and communications materials including media articles, social media engagement, digital storytelling, and more.
    • Support planning of strategic events and communications campaigns developed to promote and increase support for the UN Trust Fund.
  • Ensure compliance and management of deliverables under the Strategic Partnerships, Advocacy and Resource Mobilization Team
    • Provide managerial direction, guidance and leadership to staff and provide performance feedback and coaching to staff under supervision.
    • Oversee the reporting process of the UN Trust Fund including the annual donor report, the CSW report to the SG on the UN Trust Fund, inputs into UN Women reports, and others.
    • Provide inputs into development of UN Trust Fund planning processes including the Strategic Plan, bi-annual workplan, and EVAW funding ecosystem, and more, on behalf of the Strategic Partnerships, Advocacy and Resource Mobilization team within the UN Trust Fund.
    • Oversee monitoring, assessment and reporting against the annual workplan and UN Trust Fund Strategic Plan to ensure delivery of results and revise strategies as required
    • Promote the timely submission of required donor reports and ensure compliance with the terms of grants and agreements.
    • Ensure the development of a team-work plan and budget; and oversee its implementation, including providing direction, guidance and technical support.
    • Coordinate with other relevant UN Trust Fund team members to ensure the collection of information and preparation of results-based reports for external constituencies.
  • The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: Incumbent leads a team of 5 personnel (estimated). The number may vary during the assignment.

Recruitment Qualifications:

Education and certification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) would be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in the field of gender equality and women's empowerment, including experience with civil society organizations, donor relations/resource mobilization with member states.
  • Proven track-record in the successful mobilization of resources.
  • Experience working in the UN System is desirable.
  • Experience in leading/managing a team is desirable.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
