We are seeking to add a high-performing CFO Consultant to the team to deliver a high level of service to our clients because we’re growing by leaps and bounds. The CFO Consultant will lead client engagements and support nonprofits in their financial analysis needs as the organization grows.

Nonprofit Chief Financial Officer Consultant Job Overview:
This is a client-facing role and would directly manage 10-12 client accounts. This person needs to be financially savvy and able to provide high-level analysis and value to our clients, but must also be able to oversee the day-to-day bookkeeping on assigned accounts. We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, dependable, and understands how to provide excellent client service. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting nonprofit missions, enjoys working with visionary leaders, and is committed to fostering a positive and collaborative company culture.
Financial Analysis, Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Creation and support with annual operational budgeting, restricted grant budgeting, federal or state grant budgeting, and subsequent budget vs. actual reporting.
- Monthly financial forecasting and reporting for clients, performing regular analyses, and presenting findings and insights to clients and their Board of Directors
Process Improvement
- Reviewing, developing, documenting, and updating finance processes, procedures, systems, and finance manuals in written and video SOPs to enhance financial operations
Audit Support
- Support with audit processes, liaising with third-party audit firms, preparing and providing necessary work papers and documentation, reviewing drafts
- Ensuring clients are audit-ready at all times
990 Preparation & Filing
- Preparing and electronically filing 990-Series Forms, including an internal review process and oversight of state tax return forms
Bookkeeping
- Support 100DC bookkeepers with client monthly close process in QuickBooks Online, including bank, credit card, and payment platform reconciliations, A/P and A/R reconciliations, fundraising database reconciliations, and journal entries
- Coach and mentor bookkeepers on shared client accounts
Project Management
- Serve as lead project manager for client onboarding and various accounting projects.
- Use tools like Keeper, Slack, and email to manage organization tasks, timelines, and budgets
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other CFOs and team members to share knowledge, improve processes, and share wins and challenges
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in nonprofit financial management, including 990 preparation, nonprofit audits, FASB and GAAP requirements, and restricted funds management
- Proficiency in accounting software, financial tools, and software like QuickBooks Online, Google Sheets, Excel, SaasAnt, Google Workspace, Dropbox, Expensify, Slack, Keeper, Zoom, Gusto as well as experience with software integrations with Quickbooks Online
- Exceptional client service skills with a proactive approach to solving problems
- Ability to seamlessly manage a roster of 10-12 clients and their individual priorities and needs
- All new hires onboard with a smaller roster of clients with the expectation of reaching minimum capacity within 3-4 months
- Are a skilled, professional writer and communicator

Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years experience leading the finance function of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
- Demonstrated experience providing financial support to multiple nonprofit organizations, departments, or projects simultaneously required
- Preferably experienced in working with organizations with an average annual revenue of $1 million - $5 million
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations in the international development space including multi-country books consolidation, a plus but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
- Position calls for repeated and coordinated use of your hands, wrists, and fingers to use and type on a computer keyboard, requiring the use of fine motor skills
- Position calls for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Schedule:
- Remote - Full-time, exempt position
- 8-hour shift, closely aligned with a 9am-5pm EST schedule. Flexibility available depending on location.
- This role requires frequent Zoom meetings, including 3-4 client meetings per week and 1-2 internal team meetings per week, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Logistics:
- This is a full-time, exempt, W2 employee position.
- We offer a flexible, remote work environment.
- You must be available to respond to client communication and take meetings during regular business hours in the US, closely aligned with a 9am-5pm EST schedule.

- You maintain a workspace free of unnecessary distractions where client and internal calls may be taken in a professional manner.
- You are able to be on video chat for scheduled meetings.
