About the Organization
"Be Aware And Share" (BAAS) is an independent nonprofit organization that supports people in need and contributes to social inclusion. Founded in 2015 in Basel (Switzerland), BAAS focuses primarily on working with people on the move in Europe. In addition to material and social support and educational and recreational opportunities for people on the move, BAAS also carries out awareness-raising and information activities in Switzerland.
Currently, the organization focuses on the support of people on the move in Ioannina in northwestern Greece at its Community Centre. The activities are carried out by volunteers and financed exclusively by donations. Our work is politically independent.
Job Description
We are seeking an intern to support our Fundraising Coordinators, our remote Fundraising Working Group and the project on the ground. Under the supervision of the coordination team, the intern will spend half their time supporting the Fundraising team in their endeavors, and the other half working on the project with other volunteers and the Project Coordination team. The preferred starting date would be from the 15th of August, but the start date is flexible.
Fundraising :
- Thinking outside the box and being creative as to different avenues for funding.
- Creating crowdfunding campaigns and content with our PR team.
- Managing our Whatsapp Alumni Community
- Supporting with writing grant applications, campaign content, maintaining donor relations
and reaching out to potential donors.
- Analyzing and predicting donor trends.
- Researching new potential donors or funding.
- Contribute to meaningful discussions as to why and how we portray our context, projects
and services to the public.
- Support in developing and enacting the fundraising strategy.
- Work alongside our Fundraising Coordinator(s) based in Ioannina and other remote
working group members.
Project :
- Assist in the daily operations of the Community Centre.
- Running and restocking of the Free Clothes Shop.
- Organising and/or partaking in social activities (arts and crafts, kids activities, women’s spaces, sports, games and more).
- Monitoring and assisting in the Creative Atelier.
- Leading language and computer classes.
- Being able to reside legally in the European Union for the duration of the internship.
- Starting date from the 15th of August.
- Minimum commitment of 3 months.
- Good command in written and verbal English (German or Greek desired and other
languages desired).
- Desired knowledge of the local context, refugee rights and the fundraising market (with
willingness to learn).
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Enthusiasm to get involved and partake in required tasks.
