Position description

CCIA seeks a motivated policy professional to support the Association’s policy advocacy on technology policy issues, with a particular focus on policies impacting trade and access to foreign markets. The position would support various CCIA subject matter expert teams.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support CCIA’s DC policy teams to further public policy goals and outreach on behalf of member companies and the Internet services and technology industries;
  • Assist in CCIA’s engagement with U.S. and foreign government stakeholders to inform ongoing trade negotiations;
  • Research and assist in preparation of regulatory and/or policy development comments, research and advocacy papers, pertaining to a broad range of technology policy issues;
  • Coverage of relevant hearings and events.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

2-3 years relevant work experience in public policy, government, or regulatory affairs.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience engaging in international trade negotiations.
  • Experience working in industry, government, or intergovernmental organizations.
  • Experience shaping advocacy in coordination with think tanks, civil society organizations, or legislatures.
  • Particular knowledge or experience with AI services and/or policy.
  • Particular knowledge or experience with audiovisual services and content policy, and related trade barriers.

 

The ideal candidate also will have:

  • A self-starting personality, strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong academic credentials; excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills; and a demonstrated ability to perform effectively on a team.
  • Knowledge of both technology and trade policy.
  • Experience working with relevant government agencies formulating or implementing technology policy.
  • Experience in one or more of the following issue areas: privacy, telecommunications, digital trade, AI, competition, and content moderation;
  • Familiarity with the services and business models of CCIA members.
