Position description

The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Public Affairs Officer to join its ambitious team in Brussels.

The Public Affairs Officer will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience advocating for the EU automotive industry while contributing to impactful policy development and legislative processes at European level. The Public Affairs Officer will focus on the following:

  • Monitor, analyse, and report about EU legislative and regulatory developments affecting the EU automotive industry;
  • Conduct research on specific policy areas with a view of assisting the team’s public affairs efforts;
  • Work with the team on the creation and delivery of compelling advocacy campaigns translating complex topics into accessible messages tailored to policymakers;
  • Building a network of institutional contacts for advocacy purposes.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in law, political science, or economics; specific EU law or politics studies are an asset; other relevant degrees will be considered as well;
  • Strong interest in public affairs, the EU legislative processes, and the industrial transformation to climate neutrality;
  • Previous experience (one year) in a similar role in a government, think tank, consultancy, trade association, or NGO at the national, EU, or international level;
  • Policy communication mindset: a strong political acumen and the ability to transform complex policy topics into compelling narratives for non-experts;
  • Excellent research, analytical, communication, and writing skills;
  • Proficiency in English is a must; additional languages are a plus.

What we offer

  • Hands-on experience in a dynamic and influential industry association, representing one of EU’s most important industries during its historic transformation towards zero-emission mobility;
  • Exposure to European policymaking processes and advocacy initiatives;
  • Networking opportunities with key stakeholders in the automotive and policy spheres.

Type of contract

  • Six-month contract with the possibility of extension;
  • Attractive remuneration package.
