Position description
Pure Earth is a nonprofit environmental health organization committed to solving the global pollution crisis with practical, evidence-based solutions. We work to protect people—especially children and pregnant women—and the planet from the harmful effects of toxic pollution, with a current focus on reducing lead and mercury exposure in low- and middle-income countries. We collaborate with governments, communities, industry, and civil society to address pollution at its source—deploying solutions that are grounded in science, informed by local context, and built for long-term sustainability.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Supports the day-to-day implementation of specific projects, coordinates between countries in Africa with multiple stakeholders, and contributes to programs' implementation as per technical, operational, and donor standards.
REPORTS TO: Country Director Africa
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and Manage program workplans, budgets, and reporting schedules.
- Liaison with HQ operations to support country offices (finance, HR, logistics, etc.)
- Serve as primary contact with program managers within countries.
- Oversee data collection, MEL activities, and reporting deliverables.
- Contribute to proposal development, donor reporting, and strategy discussions.
- Ensure donor compliance and quality assurance in program delivery.
- Support hiring and onboarding of regional team members and coach junior team members.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in international development, environmental health, public health, public administration, or other related field.
- 5–10 years of program implementation experience in multiple country contexts.
- Familiarity with donor regulations (United Nations, US Government, World Bank, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Comfortable with technology, Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Experience in supporting fundraising, and preparing financial and donor reports.
- Solid research skills, with experience in field work, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working with diverse teams.
- Capable of operating independently and meeting tight deadlines.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of a language in the region is advantageous.
