Duties

Position Overview: 

The ideal candidate will provide value to member companies by helping develop, promote, and manage the U.S. Chamber’s trade, investment, and regulatory priorities across Europe. 

The candidate will liaise with companies, government agencies, diplomats, and business associations in the U.S., continental Europe, and the U.K. 

This position reports to the senior vice president, Europe. 

Responsibilities: 

  • In coordination with senior staff, develop Chamber positions and advocacy strategies related to European cybersecurity, financial services/fintech, agriculture, and space. 
  • Manage geographical issues related to Portugal, Spain, Greece, and most Central and Eastern European countries. 
  • Recruit and retain member companies. 
  • Enhance the brand and profile of the Chamber’s Europe program in Washington, D.C., Brussels, and key European capitals. 
  • Draft policy papers, reports, meeting briefings, testimony, speeches, weekly newsletter inputs, and other materials for use with external and internal audiences, including government officials, corporate members, policy committees, media outlets, Chamber executives, and the public. 
  • Prepare timely trade, investment, regulatory, and political analysis. 
  • Develop and manage programs and events.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • 4-5 years’ experience working on European trade and investment policy matters. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in European government practices, policies, structures, and cultures. 
  • Effective fundraising expertise. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Successful in working as a team player in a fast-paced hybrid environment. 
  • Willingness to travel overseas. 
  • Knowledge of the U.S. business community operating in Europe. 
  • Relevant executive or legislative branch experience is a plus. 
  • Significant on-the-ground or comparable experience in Europe is a plus. 
  • Spanish, Greek, or Portuguese language skills is a plus.
