BEUC – The European Consumer Organisation is looking for a Transport and Energy Policy Officer to reinforce its Sustainability and Energy teams, in particular on files related to car electrification and sustainable housing.
Your main tasks:
- Monitor developments on consumer issues in EU policies regarding car-related and housing renovation files (e.g. implementation of the EU Automotive Action Plan and European Affordable Housing Plan);
- Support the development and implementation BEUC’s advocacy work on car-related EU policies and housing renovation at EU level;
- Prepare responses to consultations, position papers and technical briefings on these issues;
- Work with BEUC members to identify consumer needs and awareness about car electrification and house renovations, focusing on concrete incentives and initiatives to support consumers in the green transition;
- Provide BEUC members with intelligence, advise them on Transport and Energy topics and facilitate knowledge sharing among BEUC membership;
- Develop and maintain contacts with EU policy makers and build coalitions with like-minded organisations;
- Represent BEUC in public events and relevant stakeholder groups;
- Duties may evolve according to the development of the team and its activities.
Qualifications
- A University degree in Law, Political Sciences, Energy or Transport related fields (a specialisation in transport and/or energy field would be an advantage);
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience working on mobility or energy issues at EU level (experience in both areas would be an advantage) in a similar environment (NGO, EU institution, EU trade association, law firm, consultancy, etc.);
- A demonstrable interest in making mobility and energy systems more accessible;
- Knowledge of the EU institutions and the EU legislative process is a must;
- Excellent and fluent communication and presentation skills in English. Proficient knowledge of another EU language is an asset in both written and verbal communication;
- A relationship-builder able to process information quickly to develop knowledge, including new or unfamiliar areas of work;
- A proven ability to understand, appreciate and explain complex legal and technical questions;
- A highly organised, strategic and independent professional, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously;
- An individual that shares our commitment to an inclusive and diverse team, and our culture of being open-minded, ambitious, respectful and self-aware;
- The ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds.
What we offer:
- A full-time 12-month contract with a competitive salary package (salary, fringe benefits, extra-legal paid leave, flexible working hours (37,5 hours per week), partial homeworking), and the potential to be renewed;
- A gross monthly salary in the indicative range of €3.811 and €4.113 gross, depending on experience;
