Job Description:

The department of Political Science is searching for an instructor to teach PSC 310, Refugees in International Politics, a 3,0 credit upper-division undergraduate course during the Fall 2025 semester.

PSC 310.m001 surveys global politics of refugees and those displaced by persecution, conflict, disasters, or development. Topics include historical trends, legal regimes, and ethical concerns. Explores causes and consequences of forced displacement, and responses by state and non-state actors.

Job Specific Qualifications:

  • Minimum of ABD status in Political Science or a related field, with evidence of past teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level and/or a persuasive statement of teaching philosophy and goals.

Responsibilities:

Teach PSC 310.m001, Refugees in International Politics, during the Fall 2025 semester. The course meets TTh 12:30 p.m. - 1:50 p.m.

  • Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Preparation of lesson plans, projects or other student assignments.
  • Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Supervising teaching assistants.
