About us

Privacy Salon vzw is the non-profit behind the annual CPDP Conferences in Brussels — a leading global forum where academics, policymakers, civil society, and industry debate privacy, data protection, and digital rights. CPDP is known for its high-level content, unique multi-stakeholder setting, and strong community.

The Role

You will play a central role in building and maintaining the partnerships that sustain CPDP. As second-in-charge for sponsorship (working closely with the Director, who retains the lead), you will:

      • Secure support: Identify, approach, and negotiate with new sponsors while maintaining and deepening relations with existing partners;
      • Manage agreements: Draft, track, and follow up on sponsorship contracts;
      • Coordinate closely: Work side-by-side with the Director to ensure coherent strategy and execution;
      • Bring ideas: Pilot more creative sponsorship opportunities, inspired by CPDP’s mission and by feedback and ideas from the team, to engage partners.

While sponsorship and partnerships will be your core responsibility, CPDP is run by a small and collaborative team. Everyone contributes beyond their primary role to make the conference a success, so you should expect to take on additional tasks in discussion with the team and aligned with your strengths and interests.

This is a 50% position (approx. 2.5 days/week), with potential to increase. After one year, the role could evolve into a co-directorship based on performance and ambition.

Your Profile

      • Strong interest in privacy, data protection, and digital society;
      • At least 2–3 years of relevant professional experience in fundraising, business development, partnerships, or sponsorships;
      • Experience in organising conferences and events is a plus;
      • Budget management experience is a plus;
      • A relationship-builder: you enjoy networking, listening, and understanding partner needs, and you can translate them into concrete collaboration;
      • Strategic and structured: able to plan, negotiate, and close agreements while keeping the bigger picture in mind;
      • Communicative and empathetic: strong written and spoken English, good knowledge of Dutch and/or French (other languages are a plus);
      • Organised and proactive: able to manage multiple priorities independently, while being a cooperative team player;
      • Motivated to grow with CPDP and take on a leadership role.

Practicalities

      • Contract: freelance or employment, to be agreed;
      • Starting at 50% (with potential to increase);
      • Brussels-based team; hybrid work possible;
      • Some flexibility during peak periods (especially in the run-up to the conference in May).
