About EAVI

Established in 2005 as an international non-profit association, EAVI, the European Association for Viewers Interests, is the first organisation working on media literacy at the European level.

EAVI has two main objectives: First, to raise awareness of the media-related issues that impact lives directly or indirectly and to equip citizens with media literacy skills necessary to navigate the ever-evolving media landscape, and second, to inform EU policy-making processes by ensuring the representation of citizens’ interests and acting as a bridge between citizens, stakeholders, and EU institutions.

EAVI participates and coordinates several EU-wide projects, and it conducts its activities on policy, advocacy, research, content creation, publication, communication, and organising events. As a trusted voice, EAVI has authored on behalf of the European Commission many EU-wide studies, and it has a vast European network in 27 EU member states with 62 partner organisations.

Recently, EAVI is also one of the partners to organise Voices, the European Festival of Journalism and Media Freedom, whose editions take place across Europe, with thousands of participants. EAVI is a member of several international forums and networks and has delivered speeches at more than 100 international conferences across Europe and beyond, as well as organising its own conferences at national and European parliamentary houses.
