Position description

The Department of Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in American politics, to begin August 2026. Scholars whose research and teaching focus on American political behavior related to elections, voting, and/or Latino politics in the US are especially invited to apply. The successful candidate should also have a strong background in research methodology, and be able to teach courses in this area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates should demonstrate a record of, or potential for, excellence in social science research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and service appropriate to the rank. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and teach substantive courses in their area of expertise, including introductory courses, upper-level undergraduate courses, and Master's level courses.

Required Qualifications

A completed Ph.D. in Political Science. ABDs will be considered but must have successfully defended their dissertation and the degree conferred by the appointment date of 9/1/2026.

Interest in teaching, research, and service at a sustained level sufficient to meet tenure standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Political Science.

Experience teaching courses in American Politics.

Strong research record, or evidence of a potential strong research record.
