The Joint Research Centre (JRC) provides independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society.
The current vacancy is with Unit Strategy and Coordination of the Directorate for Strategy and Impact:
The mission of the Unit is to coordinate the execution of the JRC strategy via the planning, adoption and monitoring of the JRC multiannual work programme. The Unit is also in charge of the strategic planning and programming cycle (SPP). The Unit coordinates relations with Commission services, including JRC's input to inter-service meetings and consultations, to reinforce the collaboration through the portfolios. The Unit acts as an interface between the JRC and the European Parliament, the European Council, the European External Action Service, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions.
The successful candidate will support the activities related to the entire cycle: planning, adoption, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of 5 colleagues who are in charge of coordinating the JRC's Work Programme cycle. The JRC's Work Programme is financed mainly by the EU's research framework programmes and is managed (mostly) in biennial cycles.
The jobholder’s main task will be:
Contributing to the JRC WP planning, and adoption process (collecting inputs, drafting strategic and legislative documents);
Preparation for and follow-up on senior management meetings related to the JRC Work Programme, as well as meetings of the Programme Support Network;
Contributing to monitoring, reporting and evaluating of the JRC work programme implementation;
Supporting development and maintenance of processes, procedures, instructions, guidelines, training and information materials related to the JRC work programme;
Ensuring effective communication of the JRC Work Programme;
Supporting the management of the WP portfolio leadership community and collaboration with WP portfolios.
Assisting the coordination of briefing preparation for the Commissioner’s College meetings
Acting as a backup to the Unit’s legislative coordinator
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated colleague with a service-oriented approach. The job requires a result-oriented and proactive team player with strong coordination skills who will work cooperatively, both within the unit, and with the numerous other services with whom the unit collaborates to deliver on its tasks.
As the colleague will actively contribute also to the drafting of strategic documents, excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as well as good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in programme/project management and/or experience with a business manager role is desirable.
Additional job-related skills required are:
Good understanding of the functioning of IT-systems is considered a strong asset
Experience with the advanced use of Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint Online, Power Platform, Office 365) would be an additional asset
