Position description

The World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) is the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.

The General Services Department is responsible for ensuring the adequacy and proper maintenance of the infrastructure of UN Tourism premises and utilities contracts, handling reproduction and printing services, distributing mail and internal documents, and securing transportation services.

Under the supervision of the Director of Administration and Finance and day-to-day guidance of the Programme Assistant, General Services Department, the incumbent performs the following duties:

1. Operates and maintains high-volume photocopying and printing equipment, ensuring timely completion of print requests; monitors supply inventory (e.g. paper, toner), and coordinates routine servicing and repairs to prevent disruption;
2. Maintains accurate records of machine usage, including counter-readings, service down-time and job tracking logs for reprographic requests;
3. Assists personnel with basic layout, formatting and design of documents, and provides support in the use of relevant software for reprographic or document design tasks;
4. Supports document handling and filing operations by assisting in the organization, classification, and physical storage of documents in line with established procedures, and maintaining simple delivery or usage registries for reference and accountability;
5. Provides logistical and physical support by transporting heavy or bulky items such as office supplies, documents, or equipment between departments or buildings, contributing to the overall efficiency of office operations;
6. Performs general administrative tasks, supporting ad hoc duties assigned by the supervisor in support of office and administrative functions;
7. Performs other duties as required.


REQUIREMENTS

Academic : Secondary school education; additional technical training in equipment or service maintenance is highly desirable.

Languages

Fluency in Spanish is essential;

Remuneration The initial base salary is EUR 34,601 per annum.

Other conditions :
The initial grade and step on appointment will be determined by the Secretary-General on the basis of qualifications and in the light of previous similar appointments and could be at a grade different from that shown above. Appointments are normally at step 1 of the grade. The Secretary-General reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a lower level than the advertised level of the post.

If, following consideration of applications, the Secretary-General proceeds to fill this vacancy, a fixed-term appointment for a period of two years – subject to a four-month probationary period – will be offered. There is, however, no guarantee either that the initial contract will be renewed or that a career appointment within UN Tourism will subsequently be offered.
