Position Overview:
The Senior Director of Strategic Impact and Engagement reports directly to the SVP of Programs and Events in support of all strategic and special events at Hiring Our Heroes (HOH). The senior director will lead a team responsible for planning and executing special events and engagements, including Community Engagement Events, the Military Spouse Employment Summit, and the HOH Annual Gala.
The ideal candidate will design and deliver events that drive thought leadership, convene stakeholders, and elevate HOH’s role as a trusted voice in workforce development. This includes hosting executive roundtables and forums that foster collaboration across the public and private sectors. The candidate will ensure that events maximize community impact, strengthen partnerships, and generate revenue that sustain and grow HOH’s mission. The candidate will also oversee one direct report and manage a team of four people, including both full-time staff and dedicated consultants.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the president, SVP, and program leads to define strategic goals and translate them into actionable operational objectives.
- Champion strategic thought leadership to strengthen partner engagement and amplify organizational impact.
- Direct the planning and execution of high-profile, complex special projects such as the HOH Gala, the Military Spouse Employment Summit, and key partner engagements to include relationship management across multiple teams and vendors.
- Lead a dedicated events team to implement partner activities, including roundtables, co-branded initiatives, and other strategic engagements.
- Oversee the Ambassador Program, guiding strategic public appearances and cultivating relationships that expand the organization’s visibility and influence.
- Serve as the cross-functional liaison throughout U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation programs to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and integrated collaboration across teams.
- Supervise the director of Special Events to ensure event excellence and flawless execution.
- Lead special projects as assigned, applying strategic insight and operational agility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or related military experience; an advanced degree in business, nonprofit management, public policy, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, ideally within nonprofit, government, or corporate stakeholder environments.
- Proven ability to develop and drive organizational strategy and translate high-level goals into measurable initiatives.
- A strong track record in managing large-scale events, program execution, and stakeholder engagement.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience in high-level partner, board, or council engagement.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with corporate, military, and nonprofit partners.
- Demonstrated success in supervising and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Experience working cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to achieve collaborative outcomes.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with project management tools and CRM platforms.
The salary range for this position is $107,697.00 to $130,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
