Position description

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 250 national diabetes associations with two million members in more than 160 countries and territories, IDF has been at the vanguard of global diabetes advocacy for over 75 years.

We are looking to hire a Programme Coordinator to join our Advocacy team. This role is responsible for the coordination of a major educational programme for children and diabetes in schools.

This is a full-time, remote position (consultancy contract if based outside Belgium).

Purpose of role

To support the development and implementation of IDF projects, in order to promote diabetes awareness, education and improved care for people living with diabetes.

Key Responsibilities and activities

      • Coordination of the KiDS Programme:
        • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the IDF KiDS programme, ensuring timely delivery of project materials and deliverables, tracking project progress, and reporting results to IDF leadership and the Sponsor;
        • Identify opportunities to promote and improve the programme;
        • Communicate with relevant external stakeholders: sponsors, programme partners, governments, etc.;
        • Assist in the development and implementation of a communication strategy and related advocacy initiatives;
        • Review training package and other programme materials;
        • Oversee the gamification of the materials to make them more interactive for young people.
      • Support Advocacy Initiatives:
        • Supports the IDF Senior Manager, Advocacy and Community Engagement to execute activities to support IDF’s mission, including but not limited to IDF’s campaign to increase access to essential diabetes medicines;
        • Perform other related duties, as assigned;
        • Supporting projects monitoring and evaluation: using project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects milestones, scheduling project follow up meetings as needed;
        • Provide input into communication strategy related to the project;
        • Preparing and/or editing meeting minutes.

This list is not exhaustive and the Programme Coordinator may be asked to undertake other duties in line with the position.

Qualifications

Skills/Competencies/Experience

      • At least one year of experience working on project implementation and coordination, including supporting monitoring and evaluation functions;
      • A Master’s degree in public health or equivalent;
      • Languages skill: near native English, fluency in other languages is an asset;
      • Professional writing skills;
      • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently;
      • Keen interest in diabetes and the mission of the IDF;
      • Ability to work in multicultural and international environment;
      • Embracing IDF values, ethics, and beliefs;
      • Attention to details and accuracy;
      • Experience in digital health projects or online educational programmes.
