Position description

The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is a defence and security think tank that has a deep understanding of regional geopolitics and geo-economics in a global context. Its international researchers provide best-in-class independent and impartial analysis and provide insights on strategic challenges and priorities to governments and the private sector. It is expert at bringing together national leaders and senior policymakers in foreign policy, defence and security; promoting dialogue; and facilitating effective and influential bilateral and multilateral consultations.
The Cyber Power and Future Conflict (CPFC) Programme explores global strategic competition and future warfare, with a focus on emerging cyber strategies and emerging and disruptive technologies. While the CPFC programme is based in Singapore, its research scope is global. The intern would report to the Senior Fellow for Cyber Power and Future Conflict.

Responsibilities:

The research intern will contribute to the CPFC Programme in three core areas:
      • Provide research support to the CPFC team on projects including, but not limited to, the Cyber Power Matrix.
      • Provide support for CPFC workshops, roundtables and other events.
      • Participate in activities relating to the CPFC programme and IISS-Asia gaining experience of the IISS and how it operates.

Remuneration:

The successful candidate would ideally be able to start from 1 April 2026 although we are willing to accept a start date as late as 4 May 2026. The internship duration is 3 months. The role would be remunerated at $1,200 SGD per month.
