Position description
The coordinator of an intergroup at the European Parliament occupies a strategic position at the interface between parliamentary work and civil society engagement (NGOs, federations, associations, academics, and advocacy networks).
Intergroups are informal cross-party groupings of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) established to facilitate exchanges of views on specific topics and to foster dialogue with civil society. They are governed by internal rules adopted by the Conference of Presidents at the beginning of each parliamentary term. Intergroups are not official bodies of the European Parliament and may not express Parliament’s formal position.
The ARDI Intergroup
The Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI) is a cross-political initiative dedicated to promoting racial equality, combating racism, and advancing non-discrimination within the European Parliament’s legislative and political work.
During the 10th legislature, the Intergroup Bureau is composed of seven members: four Co-Presidents and three Vice-Presidents.
Position Overview
Under the direct authority of the Intergroup Bureau, the Coordinator is responsible for the operational management of the Intergroup and for implementing the political orientations defined by its Presidents.
This position combines political advisory functions, strategic coordination, legislative monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and communications management.
Main Responsibilities
Secretariat and Administrative Management
- Ensure the day-to-day functioning of the Intergroup
- Organise and facilitate meetings and events
- Draft agendas and minutes
- Manage correspondence
- Prepare regular activity reports
Political and Strategic Coordination
- Develop and implement the Intergroup’s strategic priorities
- Coordinate closely with the Bureau (Co-Presidents and Vice-Presidents)
- Facilitate cooperation among political groups represented in the Intergroup
Policy Monitoring and Research
- Monitor political and legislative developments related to human rights, equality, non-discrimination, and anti-racism at EU and Member State level
- Identify strategic opportunities for political action
- Provide analysis and briefings to support informed decision-making
Legislative Support
- Follow relevant parliamentary committee work and plenary debates
- Prepare voting recommendations and alerts for members
- Draft amendments, resolutions, reports, briefings, letters, and parliamentary questions in cooperation with MEPs, assistants, advisers, and civil society stakeholders
Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain regular dialogue with EU institutions, agencies, civil society organisations, academics, activists, and experts
- Represent the Intergroup in meetings with senior political figures and institutional stakeholders
- Integrate anti-racism and diversity priorities into parliamentary processes
Communication and Visibility
- Manage the Intergroup’s external communication (website and social media)
- Draft press releases, position papers, opinion pieces, and public statements
- Organise and co-host public events and policy discussions
Qualifications
Candidates must hold at least a Master’s degree and/or have a minimum of five years of full-time professional experience.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience working at European level on human rights, anti-racism, and non-discrimination
- Strong political acumen and understanding of EU institutional processes
- Ability to analyse racism and discrimination through an intersectional lens
- Strategic thinking and sound political judgment
- High level of autonomy, initiative, and reliability
- Diplomacy and discretion in sensitive political contexts
- Excellent networking skills and the ability to build coalitions
- Strong organisational capacity and problem-solving skills
- Ability to synthesise complex information clearly and concisely
- Excellent command of English (main working language) ; knowledge of an additional EU language is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and professional use of social media platforms
Employment Conditions
The coordinator will be employed as an Accredited Parliamentary Assistant (APA) under the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the European Union.
- Salary: €3,500 net per month
- Contract duration: Following a three-month probationary period, the contract will run until the end of the 10th legislature (July 2029)
- Location: European Parliament, Brussels
- Starting date: 4 May 2026
