Talent Management is seen as a priority within the Organization and falls under the responsibility of the Department of Human Resources (DHR). The Integrated Talent Management Division (ITMD) plays an important role as it manages one of the important resources of the Organization—its people, by attracting top talent and skilled employees.

The IOM Internship Programme targets young, talented undergraduate and graduate students, willing to gain practical experience in areas relevant to the Organization.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief, ITMD and direct supervision of the Head of Partnerships Unit, the Human Resources Officer will carry-out the following duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Support and facilitate the review of auxiliary staff projects and programmes including SYNI programme, Internship projects and programmes, as well as sampling review tools and mechanisms.
  2. Support and facilitate the hiring of Interns by coordinating the recruitment, selection, onboarding, visa processing and separation of Interns in Geneva, Bern, IGC and GFMD.
  3. Support in coordinating recruitment and selection processes for the 'Temporary Subsidized Assignment' (TSA) of candidates from the SYNI Programme of Lausanne City Council in Switzerland.
  4. Actively participates in outreach campaigns and needs assessments by contacting internal clients regarding requirements for supplementary staff and reaching out to specific Universities/ Institutions locally and international to identify candidates for the Internship Programme.
  5. Support in the redesign and management of the auxiliary staff webpage, both on the intranet and internet for the purposes of ease of accessibility to all users, well planned information architecture, well-formatted content effective navigation whilst ensuring all documents are up to date.
  6. Support in preparing and updating relevant documents and agreements for intern welcome guide, info bulletins, Internship Agreement, SYNI Agreement, relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), etc.
  7. Support in the creation of an effective filing and tracking system for the Internship and SYNI Programme which facilitates accessibility to records for global internship agreements.
  8. Provide the Accounting Unit and other internal clients with SYNI candidate statistics as and when needed. Maintain statistics of Interns and SYNI assignees.
  9. Act as focal point for onboarding new staff at the IOM Headquarters, organizing monthly meetings for new arrivals at IOM Headquarters, managing a mailbox that support their needs, ensuring incoming staff are equipped with the resources they need to transition into their new role at IOM HQ.
  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Languages

All staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM’s official languages (English, French, and Spanish),

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
